Creating a Woodland Festival with Betty's & Taylors and RHS Harlow Carr

One of our recent commissions was to bring to life the Betty's & Taylors Hero Trees from the RHS Harlow Carr "Trees for Life" Woodland.

Betty's & Taylors started their Trees For Life project in 1990. Since then and with the help of their customers they have been planting and protecting trees and have planted over 3 million trees worldwide and protected an area of Amazonian rainforest larger then the Yorkshire Dales!

Betty's & Taylors came to visit Suzanne and the team at the Make a Wish Workshop with a wish to bring to life a festival celebration to share the enjoyment of the work that they do and particularly celebrate the woodland that has been planted at  RHS Harlow Carr Gardens.

Working with Suzanne and the team at Make a Wish and sharing their wishes it was decided that two Hero Trees would be brought to life for the festival along with a team of voluntary Make a Wish fairies to support the event and share the work of Trees for Life with visitors.
The two Hero Trees that were commissioned to be brought to life were Hero Trees Rowan & King Oak.
These beautiful illustrations that can be found on the information boards in the woodland at Harlow Carr were the inspirations for the characters and after creative meetings with the Festival team and our in-house creatives they started to come to life.
Characters can be created to communicate any objective and provide such a memorable communication model to educate and engage audiences.
It was essential that the Hero Trees costumes and character delivery represented the natural aspects of the woodland that they had been created from and together they provided the life form of the festival.
The Woodland festival was a huge success and many memorable adventures were created on the day.
We would like to thank the festival team from Betty's & Taylors who invited us to be a part of their fabulous festival and to the team from Harlow Carr who helped make the day such a success.
We would also like to thanks our amazingly talented team of creatives who contributed to bringing the Hero Tree characters to life and also to our Fairies who all volunteered their time to support a very magical day.
Heres a selection of pictures from our workshop creations to the festival day itself.
